What is a neuropsychological assessment?

What is a neuropsychological assessment?Neuropsychological assessment is an essential process that helps us better understand how the brain works and its impact on daily life.

Imagine the brain as a soccer team, with each player representing an essential function such as memory, attention, planning, perception, verbal communication, reading and writing.

This in-depth assessment not only looks at cognitive aspects, but also explores emotional dimensions, looking for signs of anxiety, sadness, anger or self-esteem issues, among others.

The main aim of this assessment is to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the person being assessed, whether a child, teenager or adult.

In short, it's like putting together a complete portrait of a person from different jigsaw puzzles, each piece representing an aspect of their mental and emotional functioning.

This overall picture enables neuropsychological experts, such as those at CERC, to make a diagnosis if necessary. At CERC, we offer two types of neuropsychological assessment:

What training do neuropsychologists receive?

The neuropsychologist has undergone undergraduate training (B.A.) in psychology, followed by post-graduate training (M.A. and/or Ph.D.) in neuropsychology.

He is a member of the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec (OPQ), guaranteeing his qualifications. The psychotechnicians are final-year neuropsychology students, whose work is personally supervised by Dr. Benoît Hammarrenger, neuropsychologist and Director of CERC.

All CERC neuropsychologists and psychotechnicians have been carefully selected and trained by Dr. Benoît Hammarrenger, who ensures consistency of service and quality of professional practice.

Our team is our pride and joy, making CERC an exceptional clinic.
