Nakita Séguin-Kaercher

Doctoral student in neuropsychology

Nakita is currently a third-year doctoral student in clinical neuropsychology (D. Psy.) at the Université de Montréal and a member of the student registry of the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec (OPQ). Throughout her career, Nakita has had the opportunity to work with a wide range of populations presenting a variety of difficulties. Although she has completed clinical internships with adults and the elderly, Nakita specializes in pediatric neuropsychology. Indeed, her doctoral research focuses on graphic fluency in children with developmental language disorders, with the aim of better characterizing executive impairment in these children. Nakita is currently conducting this research project as a research student at the Laboratoire d'études en neuropsychologie de l'enfant et de l'adolescent (LÉNEA), under the supervision of Dr. Bruno Gauthier.

Nakita wishes to continue her clinical practice with children, as she is deeply convinced that early understanding and care can have a real impact on a person's development and life course. By adopting an individualized approach for each child, she aims to help parents and children better understand how their brains work, i.e. their strengths and challenges, as well as the various environmental and psychosocial factors that can help explain the difficulties they encounter. Nakita's aim is to guide families and children towards the right tools to help them reach their full potential, in all spheres of their lives.
