Émilie Ferland
Émilie Ferland is a doctoral candidate in psychology at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). Trained in the cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approach, Émilie aspires to enrich her practice, knowledge and skills by integrating the systemic and dynamic approaches. To this end, she is completing an internship at CERC under the supervision of Dr. Marie-Hélène Guay.
Prior to this, Émilie completed an internship at UQAM's Centre de Services Psychologiques (CSP), working with a clientele mainly made up of children and a few adults. This internship enabled her to develop key skills in affective and cognitive assessment, intervention and parental guidance. Émilie has also had the opportunity to work with many different types of clientele in the course of her past professional experiences, including school-age students, college athletes with concussions or Attention Deficit Disorder with or without Hyperactivity (ADHD), and immigrant women in the process of socio-professional integration. In addition, her research interests in autism and the stigmatization of people with this condition lead her to pay particular attention to providing an inclusive therapeutic space open to difference.
Thanks to her academic background focused on youth, Émilie is sensitive to the growing needs of children and wants to work with them to offer interventions that will support their development and fulfillment. She also helps her clients deal with various psychological issues and life events. Émilie is an intern who stands out for her professionalism and gentleness. Empathy and a concern for treating the individuals and families she sees with the utmost respect are at the heart of her practice.
At CERC, Émilie offers psychotherapy services for children, adolescents and young adults, as well as parental guidance for parents.
