Dr. Marie-Hélène Guay
A member of the Quebec Order of Psychologists since 2011 and holder of a doctorate in educational psychology from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), Marie-Hélène Guay is a psychologist trained in the systemic, dynamic and cognitive-behavioral approaches. She uses a warm and respectful integrative approach to psychotherapy, adapting to the needs of her clients. Early in her career, she conducted psychological assessments with children with learning difficulties in elementary school, and practiced with 1st and 2nd line youth mental health teams. She has also provided psychotherapy to adults and adolescents in her private practice. For 8 years, she worked in a non-profit organization with children, adolescents and their families in a context of sexual violence, first as a psychologist, then as supervisor and coordinator of clinical services.
At CERC, Marie-Hélène offers psychotherapy services to adolescents and adults. She sees clients with a wide range of psychological problems, including anxiety, depression, difficulties adapting to different spheres of life, self-esteem, interpersonal relationships and more. She specializes in the treatment of relational trauma (abandonment, abuse, sexual violence, etc.). Her systemic training enables her to understand family dynamics and their repercussions on family well-being, and she also offers parental guidance to help resolve difficulties in the parent-child relationship.
Marie-Hélène is an experienced supervisor who oversees the training of interns and trainees, as well as professionals wishing to acquire their psychotherapy license. She is also responsible for providing clinical support to the CERC team in her role as manager of the psychotherapy department.
When she's not at work, Marie-Hélène enjoys family activities and trips. She loves reading and swimming. She also loves horses, and since childhood has dreamed of having her own stable.
